RESULTS OF THE LABOUCHERE SYSTEM (CANCELLATION METHOD) APPLIED TO THE ROULETTE AND CRAPS GAMES.

We recently published an article explaining how the Labouchere betting system works. Now let's see what are the odds of winning players by applying the cancellation method for the "even odds" of roulette (red / black, odd / even) and for bets on the "Pass Line" of craps.

Remember that the bankroll is nothing more than the amount of money the player brings to the table that is the total he is willing to put at risk in a game session. For simplicity we assume that the bankroll is made up of betting units: for example a bankroll of 100 units will be made up of € 10, € 100 or € 200 if the betting unit chosen by the player is worth € 0.10, € 1 or 2 €. In other words, if you decide to risk € 50, you can choose units of € 1 to have a bankroll of 50 or from € 0.50 for a bankroll of 100 and so on.

As far as roulette is concerned, bets on red / black or odd / even were considered, for which the player has a probability of winning of 47.37%, while for craps the bet on the Pass Line has been examined which guarantees the player a 49.29% chance of winning.

The higher the number of units that make up the bankroll, the more the probability of losing the entire available stack is reduced. With a bankroll of 1000 units the player has a 97.3% chance of canceling all the numbers chosen for the initial sequence, while for craps this value rises to 98.7%. Obviously, for the same amount of money as the bankroll, an increase in the number of units increases the odds in favor but reduces the amount of possible winnings. On the contrary, reducing the number of units increases the risk but also the value of the possible final win.

There are different ways to use the Labouchere method, or deletion, for example the player can choose to start with a sequence of numbers different from the standard one (1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1), for example you could use shorter sequences (1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1) or incremental sequences (1 2 3 4 5 6). In any case, in the long term, it is still impossible for the player to have a mathematical advantage on the casino desk. It should however be kept in mind that longer sequences or with higher numbers you choose to risk more to try to get higher winnings.
